Prof. Zoltán Horváth
Director of the EIT Digital Budapest Associate Partner Group
Prof. Zoltán Horváth, Director of the EIT Digital Budapest Associate Partner Group, graduated as a teacher of mathematics, physics and computer science in 1986 and received his Ph.D. in 1996 from Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest. He has been teaching at the university since 1986 and is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Informatics as well as Head of the Department of Programming Languages and Compilers at Eötvös Loránd University. Before he was appointed as Dean, he had been Vice-Rector for International Affairs since 2010. In 2002, he won the Informatics Teacher of the Year award from the Hungarian CIO Association. Between 2003 and 2006, he received the Bolyai Research Scholarship, and he was awarded the Master Teacher OTDT Gold Medal in 2009. The CEEPUS network led by him won the CEEPUS Ministers’ Prize in 2004 and in 2007. He is Chairman of the Committee of the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference on Information Sciences. Prof. Zoltán Horváth received the Knight’s Cross from the Order of Merit of Hungary from the President of Hungary on 20 August 2013. He received the award, among others, for the establishment of the EIT Digital’s Co-location Centre in Budapest.
Deputy Director of the EIT Digital Budapest Associate Partner Group
Zsuzsa Várhalmi, Deputy Director of the EIT Digital Budapest Associate Partner Group, graduated as a French teacher in 2005 at Eötvös Loránd University and completed her doctoral studies in 2008 at the University of Debrecen. In 2010, she started to work at Eötvös Loránd University as a Joint Programmes Coordinator at the Rector’s Office, Department of International Education and Mobility. She joined the EIT Digital Budapest APG as an Education Manager in 2012 and was appointed Deputy Director responsible for education and international relations. As a Deputy Director, Zsuzsa Varhalmi manages joint educational programmes of the EIT Digital Budapest APG and has a key role in coordinating EIT Digital’s networking initiative called Outreach Programme, which involves 21 countries across Europe.
Assoc. Prof. Zoltán Istenes
CLC Manager of the EIT Digital Budapest Associate Partner Group and Head of EIT Digital Budapest Doctoral Training Centre
Assoc. Prof. Zoltán Istenes received his Ph.D. in Informatics from the University of Nantes, France. He has been working at Eötvös Loránd University at the Faculty of Informatics, Department of Software Technology and Methodology since 1998. He is currently an Associate Professor and the Head of the Department of Software Technology and Methodology. In 2009, Zoltán Istenes joined the EIT Digital Budapest Associate Partner Group as CLC Manager, and he was appointed Director of the EIT Digital Budapest Doctoral Centre in 2012. He was project manager in TÁMOP projects at Eötvös Loránd University and participated in several international research projects at the University of Nantes, Faculty of Science, Department of Informatics (IRIN) as a Research Fellow (ATER). He is founder and member of the Robotics Division of the John von Neumann Computer Society, and in 2011 he received the Neumann prize. He was elected as the best teacher of the Faculty of Informatics at Eötvös Loránd University in 2010. The research fields of Zoltán Istenes include Artificial Intelligence, Knowledge Based Systems, Robotics, Software Technology, Formal Methods and B-Methods.
