Conference TOP200 – Nation Without Reason?
What is the responsibility of education? How to prepare higher education students for the requirements of economy? What could companies do about it? How to resolve the contradiction between the labor market, looking for experienced workforce, and the fact, that fresh graduates have no opportunity to gain experience?
Figyelő-Top200 conference attempts to answer these questions on on October 10. At the round table discussion academia was represented by Prof. Dr. Zoltán Horváth, Director of the EIT ICT Labs Budapest Associate Partner Group.Answering to our invitation, Prof. Dr. Gábor Péceli, rector of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics attended the event as well.
Dr. Zoltan Horvath during the roundtable emphasized that it was heartening to hear that the companies also see the solution to migration the cooperation of universities and companies. To achieve this, it is important that educational institutions think long term and do not dislocate the best undergraduate students.
Dr. Zoltan Cséfalvay, State Secretary of the Ministry of National Economy explained in the final presentation, that the role of knowledge capital in the Hungarian economy is more important than we think. GDP–rate export is among the highest in the EU, out of which 17 percent arevalue-added high-tech products. The share of high-technology products in the manufacturing sector is also very high.
The main objective of the EIT ICT Labs activities in Budapest is to provide an answer to these question of keeping knowledge at home, by offering international R & D projects, MSc and PhD programmes and support for startup companies.
